The paralyzing reality of the state of the world mixed with a touch of seasonal-affective disorder and impending student loan debt had me feeling bitter and stagnant, if not expressionless. To have writer’s block means to be uncomfortable with your own thoughts, and I was in deep. Whether out of fear of failure or some misplaced worry in karmic consequence, I wrote next to nothing. Much to the dismay of thousands of concerned citizens, students, and teachers- Scott Walker, Wisconsin’s governor, has announced roughly $300 million dollars in budget cuts, primarily in education. Clearly, this sort of decision deserves intense scrutiny, of which it has gotten its fair share. What it does not need, however, is a further polarization of our politics and more importantly our mindsets.
